                    Old Friends, New Perspectives.

Old friends, old and new jokes, peppered with interesting anecdotes, make for an evening full of laughter and joy. That is how a few of us gathered at a friend’s house nearby, and the evening just flew by on wings.

Amazingly, there was such a striking resemblance between two brothers, at the get together, that we joked that they were indistinguishable from each other, and maybe could travel on each other’s passports ! But reality is always stranger than fiction, and they regaled us with real life stories of how people had tied themselves in knots at different functions ,coming across first one, then the other, and  being completely foxed !

Travel is now taking off with a vengeance, after the enforced isolation caused by the pandemic. And there are literally, no bookings available for popular and not so popular destinations. The Indian traveller is no longer interested in the ghisa pita tourist traps. There is a new found willingness to try out new destinations, far from the beaten tracks.

Turkey,Vietnam,Cambodia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, are seeing renewed interest from desi travellers, eager to try out new destinations. The evening was enlivened by such touristy recollections, and each one came out with interesting anecdotes. Contrasted to the earlier days of  desi travellers, flocking to tour operators that arranged vegetarian food for the shakahari, today most travel destinations have expanded their culinary offerings to cater to these travellers. And why not, since vegetarian food is increasingly being touted as the healthier alternative.

I am not an avid traveller, but I was able to add to my Bucket List of must go to travel spots! Such get togethers not only lead to amusing, fun filled evenings, but add useful tips that no guide book can offer.

Musings at The Lake.

Musings at the Lake.   The Walkers and the Gawkers. After my earlier attempt Musings in the Park, created,if not waves,at least ripples, I thought of sharing my musings about my new walking destination. After all, this is the Age of Sequels and unending serials. The Lake is a serene and tranquil tourist spot, normally. But the recent fury of the rains unleashed giant waves that lapped dangerously close to the danger points of the Tower and Regulator Flood Gates. The opening of the flood gates spelt misery for the low lying areas downstream. However, now that the flood waters have receded, one can resume meditations on the fragility and transitoriness of Life. The crowds are back at the lake, and I could not help but notice the Ever-present smartphon...

LET PEOPLE JUDGE. THEY WILL DO SO ANYWAY.
