Gold ! The Love Affair Never Ends !

The Festival Season has kicked off with renewed vigor, after the dampening effect of the Pandemic.        People are buying with a vengeance, especially precious metals like Gold and Silver.

A recent video,widely circulated,gave a  guesstimate that 11% of the world's gold,was in the possession of Indian housewives !
Of course, these estimates are just guesstimates . Even usually reliable sources, run for shelter when asked about the factual basis. They say,

Naa baba naa,
Mera roti, kapda aur  makan,
Khatre mein hoga!!

It is quite understandable, since women have total control over these Essential Commodities!!Among other things.
And the Indian ladies' love affair with gold is not going away, anytime soon.

The Big Fat Indian Wedding, immortalized by Bollywood, will endure !! And along with it,as an essential adornment, gold and sona chandi, will remain the cynosure of attention, and an important yardstick of a family's wealth.
But why look down on the Indian ladies' love affair with gold?
The Portugese,The Spanish Inquisition,The Nazis' and most empires, secretly spirited away gold to their treasuries. The Incas forged their king's bonds with golden handcuffs, until covetous hands forcibly snatched away their golden reserves.

So,as the Festival Season is upon us,

Khushiyon ka Teuhar,
Sone chandi ki Bahar.

Musings at The Lake.

Musings at the Lake.   The Walkers and the Gawkers. After my earlier attempt Musings in the Park, created,if not waves,at least ripples, I thought of sharing my musings about my new walking destination. After all, this is the Age of Sequels and unending serials. The Lake is a serene and tranquil tourist spot, normally. But the recent fury of the rains unleashed giant waves that lapped dangerously close to the danger points of the Tower and Regulator Flood Gates. The opening of the flood gates spelt misery for the low lying areas downstream. However, now that the flood waters have receded, one can resume meditations on the fragility and transitoriness of Life. The crowds are back at the lake, and I could not help but notice the Ever-present smartphon...

LET PEOPLE JUDGE. THEY WILL DO SO ANYWAY.
