The New Normal,Not the Old Normal.
As we start on the long journey back to a semblance of normalcy, the question arises, What will Normalcy mean ?
There are many answers, none definitive. But it is possible to paint a probable Post Covid Scenario.
Firstly, Normal itself will have to be redefined. After all,Normal always refers to a context,a framework for comparison. So the New Normal,in the transition to a Post Covid time, will also change. It will be dynamic, drawing on the lessons learned, and hopefully, unlearned also.
Secondly, it cannot, should not,be Business as Usual.Because we may talk of Herd Immunity, but we should not forget Herd Memory. Just as the Matriarch Elephant in a herd, has the genetically programmed DNA to pass on her experience,to ensure the survival of the herd,so also should we, digitally reprogram our lifestyle,to survive in the strange New World.
Lastly, we must not forget that --
"Those who forget history,
Are condemned to repeat it,
First as Tragedy,
Second time as Farce."
Only instead of it being a Farce, second time around,it may be a Greater Tragedy,as was evidenced in the Second Wave of The Great Flu Pandemic,in 1918. The second wave was deadlier, decimating nations. Let us not serve as Some Other Species Herd Memory, after we merrily doom our species to Extinction !!

Musings at The Lake.

Musings at the Lake.   The Walkers and the Gawkers. After my earlier attempt Musings in the Park, created,if not waves,at least ripples, I thought of sharing my musings about my new walking destination. After all, this is the Age of Sequels and unending serials. The Lake is a serene and tranquil tourist spot, normally. But the recent fury of the rains unleashed giant waves that lapped dangerously close to the danger points of the Tower and Regulator Flood Gates. The opening of the flood gates spelt misery for the low lying areas downstream. However, now that the flood waters have receded, one can resume meditations on the fragility and transitoriness of Life. The crowds are back at the lake, and I could not help but notice the Ever-present smartphon...

LET PEOPLE JUDGE. THEY WILL DO SO ANYWAY.
