A Butterfly Highway ? Why not ?

We sometimes ignore or are blind-sided by events happening right beneath our collective noses. One such is the fact, perhaps little-known to many, that there is a Butterfly Park in Chandigarh, which is trying to lure butterflies to come and sample it's offerings. The Butterfly Park is in Sector 26, in the little side lane opposite Strawberry School, and is worth a visit, especially for those who sing the praises of foreign lands, while neglecting our very own hidden treasures.
I remember mentioning this haven for butterflies in the popular reference for tourists, The TripAdvisor, which drew many surprised and delighted reactions.
Now comes the news in today's Economic Times that it is time that we think of  building a Butterfly Highway. Yes,you read it right,a highway for butterflies.
In today's congested cities, with concrete jungles instead of green forests, butterflies  are finding it hard to find conducive surroundings to frolic and to do what butterflies do, which is to set up house,so to say. So,voila! why not create green connecting strips, corridors, between one park and another, in the cities,so as to give them a fighting chance to survive and thrive, and give that much needed colour to our mundane lives ?
The idea was earlier floated by Barack Obama, former US President,to make a 1500 mile butterfly connecting corridor,or butterfly highway, for them, from Minnesota,USA to Mexico,    so that they can migrate in winter to milder climes in Mexico.
So we can look forward to those refreshing living colours of the rainbow, flitting about in the midst of our concrete jungles.

Musings at The Lake.

Musings at the Lake.   The Walkers and the Gawkers. After my earlier attempt Musings in the Park, created,if not waves,at least ripples, I thought of sharing my musings about my new walking destination. After all, this is the Age of Sequels and unending serials. The Lake is a serene and tranquil tourist spot, normally. But the recent fury of the rains unleashed giant waves that lapped dangerously close to the danger points of the Tower and Regulator Flood Gates. The opening of the flood gates spelt misery for the low lying areas downstream. However, now that the flood waters have receded, one can resume meditations on the fragility and transitoriness of Life. The crowds are back at the lake, and I could not help but notice the Ever-present smartphon...

LET PEOPLE JUDGE. THEY WILL DO SO ANYWAY.
